what's the difference between the 1.7di and 1.7tdi engine ? can my 1.7 di engine be turned into a 1.7tdi engine simply or can I increase the "low boost" my some other means ?

If you mean the indirect injection donks, the intercooler - oh and the intercooled 1.7 turbodiesel is an Isuzu donk and I seem to recall t'other one is a Vauxhall engine.
If you mean the later engines, I suspect that the low boost versions also lack an intercooler. An intercooler and a suitable software recode would do what you want it to.
