I have a rear wrap off a 2001 Cobra. Had to pay the insurance deductable anyway, so I had mine replaced with new. This has very minor damage & can be easily repaired. If anyone is interested let me know, I'll send pics. Hated to let the body shop keep it & it's in to good condition to toss out.

Hope you thought about the consequences of using insurance. Did you ask them about possible rate-increases ? How about the deductible ? Sometimes it's cheaper to have it fixed yourself.

After adding in paint to match the rest of the car, labor, & the BS other shop charges my $100 deduct was the way to go. Wish I had pics of the rest of that side of the car before the panel was replaced, then you'd understand. Tell ya I had to hold back, considering some of the things I've done in my dad's cars LOL
*sneaking away like a sweet innocent little girl*ah , sounds okay then. Didn't know you had more damage than the bumper. Plus a $100 deductible is not very much. I usually have 500 to a 1000 to keep the premium low. Ah, so there was no way you could have gotten angry at him! :-) my dad has done that, except it was with his own car...pfew. I still give him s*it about that.
