2005 Mustang Where are they?

The 2005s: I thought they were supposed to be out by now. Anybody know anything or herd anything? Thanks

Hiding their ugly little faces ...in shame.

If I was Ford, I'd be producing them like crazy now, build up a significant inventory, and initiate a really big marketing splash the same day they are put out on the lots! The day the ads hit the TV and papers, they'd mysteriously appear, *everywhere*!

Kate, you're in the minority on this one..

I was in a local dealership and was told that ford in only producing 149,000 units the first year and deal is already at 200,000 and the car isn't up for sale yet.

And you believed what you heard from a car salesguy? Sheesh.

Yup. But I'd be interested in your thoughts on the car once it's been out for a while. Bet you eventually warm up to it..

I can't believe they still don't even have the '05 on their website. And I was at the dealer last week, and they don't have any brochures on them. Pretty weird.

Well Joe, If you're right, I'll be the first to admit it. I never warmed up to the current body style enough to want one. The only temptation it really gave me was the 03 Cobra, and that was just because of the HP. I had hoped that the 05 would change more to something that I could fall in love with again. So far I have not seen anything that makes my heart flutter.

Me neither. I still like Fox cars.

From that standpoint, the '05s offer 300hp in the GT. Not a bad thing, eh?

Not even that 300hp GT? ;)

Aah, thanks. I was looking at ford.com, not fordvehicles.com.

I can't wait to see one with the interior upgrades.

Kate, I understand your POV... but IMO, it's a GREAT start for a new series... the "plain" but retro look gives plenty of room for facelifts for model year differention. And there's NO doubt what it is.

And it's the platform that counts most!

My gripes:

HATE the interior airducts

Who they kidding about the front suspension?! It's cheaper, that's why it's there... Bet the Jags have full control-arm suspension.

I have no problem with the solid axle for strip and track performance.. but suppose I want power AND better roadability? Guess I transplant an IRS from a Bird?

So obviously the car also lends itself to modding!

I'm hooked on SVT. At 300 HP my poor old beat up Shug is still stronger, and closer to paid for :)

I just don't like the lines. You've read all of my complaints, no sense wollering in them.

Oh yea, that's a big one.

A fairly big project, so again, why make the switch?

I suppose you are right. I just don't wat to buy a brand new ugly car and have to make some pretty drastic changes to it.

*sigh*

In 1994, I scoffed at the sight of the SN-95 body style. I did *not* like it.

I'm still not thrilled about it... however, somehow the changed hood and front facia that sets my '97 Cobra apart from the '97 V6 model changes a lot.... but I didn't even like the '94 Cobras until around '98. Now the V6-GT is bearable, the Cobra quite attractive.

I remember when the '99 model came out... the first one I saw was Kermit-the-Frog green... I thought the car in general was hideous... now I drool over a nice black GT. Personally, I like the styling of the GT over the Cobra... even the '03/04.

I like the '05's *body*. It's the interior that I'm having a hard time liking. For as much as the '94-04 interior is criticized... with some better ergonomics, I'd take it over the '05. The '05 looks *too* retro and plasticky.

Unfortunately with the new GT's increased torque at a lower RPM, they'll most likely be eating our Cobras for lunch...

That still doesn't make a new one closer to being paid for though. :-)
