all weather mats

Jul 21, 2004 3 Replies

i generally like to put good all-weathers in all of my cars. with my mach, are FoMoCo's all-weathers best because of the (presumed) perfect fit? or are there others that fit well and do a good job keeing any crud off my floor? she won't be a winter driver, but occasionally i might face some sudden summer rains while i'm out driving....

thanks for any comments.

Factory mats are the best. No lint, they have the grommet hole, they match and FIT the interior, they don't slip and they wear very well.

Actually, you will find that the factory carpet mats clean up quite well! I have had tan mats get pretty scroungy between scrubbings and they still wash up nicely.

Turn the hose on them, douse them with something like PRO C-49 (check your for your local PRO car care products vendor in the phone book or ask the detailer at a body shop) and scrub with a brush Hose all the soap off, repeat if necessary, and use a shop vac to slurp out the excess moisture. Rinse your scrub brush, and brush the nap GENTLY against the grain so it stands up, lay out over a fence to dry.

It also helps to have a second set. That way you can have some drying while you put in a fresh set and run.

I just throw mine in the washing machine. :)

How's that working for you? I tried it in my old washer. They kept coming up to the top and knockint the top upwards so that the washer stopped. Now I have a huge frontloader but I am hesitant to submit my mats to that kind of abuse.
