I'm heading to an autocross tomorrow for the first time. What is the ideal tire pressure for this event for a 2003 Mustang with stock 17" 245/45's.

start at max sidewall pressure, back it down from there as needed.
I know this is too late for this last weekend, but try putting some white shoe polish on the sidewalls and extended to the tread. That way, when you do lower the tire pressure form the max sidewall pressure, you can tell if it's rolling the tire over onto the sidewall, which would be a bad thing!!
