First Judging, First Place for my Fastback

I took my fastback up to Albuquerque last weekend for their annual show, and it took first place in the modified class. It was the first time that I ever spent a lot of time sitting by the car watching and listening to the reactions. I had a pretty darned good time! A number of the comments were about how much progress I had made over the last year because it was a rolling shell at the previous show. I really didn't think it had been like that, but I checked my old photos, and they were right. So, for fun, I put together a webpage of before and after photos. You don't see the progress when you're working on a car every day, but look at year-old photos and it's very obvious. :)

LOL, no, the car still doesn't have any mirrors. I think it will be some time before they go on, although I am planning to install the rear view mirror this weekend.

Probably a good thing, but driving that car do you really care what's behind you? ;)

Laurie,

Very nice! Very clean!

How did you like Albuquerque? I loved it there... awesome weather. Hey, if you ever go back, check out the Little Anita's down in Old Town. It's a nice place and they have fantastic New Mexican food! Also Sadies restaurant in that same area of town is another good place for eats.

Albuquerque is a great town! This was the 13th year in a row that I've attended the show up there. The best part was how nice and cool it was. It's up to 106 here today in Tucson.

Laurie S.,

Was that the annual show down in Old Town, or was that show in the new downtown area?

I know. In Albuquerque, no matter how hot it is, as long as you're in the shade you're comfortable. Gotta love the dry air! And with its dry air, there's no flying bugs... no mosquitos, no flys, no gnats... and for cars, NO RUST!

It was at the Pyramid Marriot Hotel and was put on by the Rio Grande Mustang Club. They've been doing this show for 22 years now.
