H-pipe question

Where do you measure the 2.5 inch? Is that to the out side or inside of the pipe? I use my caliper to measure the inside and get more then

2.25 but less than 2.5. If I measure the outside I get 2.5 on the mark.

Pipe and tubing are usually manufactured with outside dimensions as standard. Inside dimensions can sometimes be specified, especially in tubing, but 99% go by O.D.

Didn't the exact 2.5" on the O.D. ring a bell at all?
