Coming home from work today I noticed the song title and artist being scrolled along my display along with the normal station's call sign. I've turned on the "Station Name" feature and been getting that, but this was the first time stuff started scrolling across the screen like a billboard.
Ya mine started to do the same thing. More and more radio stations are starting to broadcast using that signal that the new car stereos are made with to do these features.
What year are yours? One of the stations I listen to does broadcast the info but I dont see it displayed on my radio. I t does show on my wifes truck. I have a 2000.
I have the Mach 460 in my car. If you have the owner's manual, go to page 43 and read up on RDS (Radio Data System). Also, there is a section on page 44 that deals with just the RDS. If you don't have the manual handy, you can click on this link:

If it don't work, try again. I just tested it out and it send you to a PDF file on a secure server. Once it is up on your screen, save it to your computer and read it at your leisure.
Thanks for the link. I checked a pdf version of my owners manual and it did not show anything about the RDS. I will have to look at the actual manual in the car tomorrow.
Seems that ClearChannel has got all its stations on RDS now. Within the past two weeks more than half the FM dial started using it. Of course, some non-CC stations have been using it too. Pretty cool, actually. Here's an interesting link if you're interested:

Push the "Menu" button on the radio and use it to scroll through the menu. I just turned everything "on" with one of the "Up/Down" buttons to change the feature from "off" to "on". Only a few stations in my area are sending this feature. But the ones that do send it are getting pretty creative with it.

I'm hoping they'll adopt the 'Traffic Info' feature used in Europe. I miss that greatly. If you have the TA (Traffic Announcements) feature switched on, it will pick up traffic info from the current station, or one linked to it and break into whatever you are listening to, be it the station or CD/tape with the traffic announcement. After that it will switch you back to whatever you were listening to.
Be careful though with the scrolling on teh display, some stations back in Europe started putting scrolling commercials on that display. Which gets irritating. :-)
