Newbie

Hi all I am a newbie to the newsgroup thing, so bear with me if I goof up. I have responded to a few posts but realized I haven't introduced myself. Sorry my manner lack sometimes. My name is Bill and I have a 66 mustang coupe with the sprint 200 engine. I drove her all the way from Wa state to sunny Fl. What a trip! I only wish I had A/C! Anyways looks like there are many knowledgeable people in here and I look forward to posting and maybe answering some posts!

Well Bill,

Welcome to the RAMFM..........Your a brave sole driving the car as far as you did without first going through the mechanicals.............I've done a similar trip a number of times without AC.......Usually with the windows and the floor vents wide open, regardless of outside temp or weather conditions (although, hail hurts when it hits you at 60mph, especially through the floor vents)..........As for the AC, the early cars are easy enough to retrofit in, as the whole unit hangs underneath the dash....You will however need to swap out your console for the AC unit, but I am sure that you will more than recoup the cost of that piece with your full length console if it is in good shape...................

Yours in Vintage Fords,

Bill S.

Thank you Bill S. Well I did go through the engine and tranny with a fine toothed comb before leaving. LOL However it was the rear axle bearings that went on me somewhere in Texas. Hell I never knew they exsisted! Otherwise it was a smooth ride. I was never a mechanic till I got my mustangs I have owned 2 66 coupes, first one had the 289 hipo in it and was nice till I realized I couldn't pass a gas station, without filling it up!
