In the words of Billy Crystal, "Marvelous, simply marvelous." Yeah, that pretty much sums it up about the '05 GT. It's a terrificcar...worlds better than the previous cars, the Fox bodies and theFox-4s. But let's get into the story, shall we?The local dealership here got their first batch of '05 Mustangs abouttwo days ago. I was driving by their lot that evening when in thecorner of my eye there she was... a sparkling new black GT (Why did ithave to be a black one? Didn't they know about my weakness?) sittingout on their front lawn. My head snapped over to get a better lookand I slammed on the brakes at the same time. Then I flung my Cobraaround to go back to take a closer look. When I pulled into their lotthere were already about five other people standing around talkingabout/and looking at her. All were enthusiastic about the car, andall thought the new 'Stang would be a huge hit for Ford. Afterwalking around the car, checking out all her details, I had to agree,stylistically. But what would she be like to drive was the biggerquestion, because we all know styling will only get most folks to takea look and that the "fun factor" is what gets the vast majority tosign for the 4-5 year note. But I digress...back to the styling.Let's start with the outside. From the front 3/4s view, the newMustang is a BEAUTY! The round headlights, the forward leaning grill,the bulging fenders, the roof line, the little "Shelby-style" rearquarter windows...perfect, just perfect! To me, only the rear enddisappoints, and then only a little bit. I like the three-bar taillights and the exhaust tip cutouts, but the rather tallish rear bumperarea, to me, doesn't quite flow. It's close... all the details arethere, it just seems to me that maybe the designers were stilltweaking this area when they ran out of time. I don't know...maybeit'll grow on me. The other thing about the tail end is the taillights lens themselves. Again, the 3-bar thing is cool, but thelenses are...

Yes, it's all better. The throws are much shorter and so is the shifter handle. Plus, the shifter is located much better! No longer do you have to reach for it. All it needs is a good Pro 5.0 shifter.
