Oil Independence Day 2006

High gas prices have created a new group of people - "pump grumblers." When pumping our high priced gas, we grumble words of resentment, while feeling powerless. We need gas, so we pay the price. Standing as a individual we are powerless, but together our voices would be heard. America is a strong, independent country. When John Kennedy proposed we put a man on the moon, a goal and time line was set. American determination made it happen. Let's apply the same initiative to independence of oil through alternative energy research and use. We already have brilliant minds who are making great strides towards this goal. Demand that the President stand up for us. Ask him to support Alternative energy to free us from oil dependence, starting today. Millions of letters cannot be ignored.

Write a paper letter before July 4 to the President. Urge friends and family to do the same. President Bush The White House

More idiocy from those who have difficulty understanding how things REALLY work. Or who cant string more than 3 brain synapses together.

3 dollar gas is not grossly overpriced.. and there is no clear replacement that can be produced for that amount.

As to funding tech research... will it pass if it involves new nuclear Plants?

I thought not....

There is no way this will help so don't waste your time. There is something called "Supply and Demand" that is in action here. We as Americans have had it very easy when it comes to gas prices compared to the rest of the world and believe it or not, we STILL have it easier than the rest of the world, (and no, I'm not some oil tycoon, I'm a working joe just like everybody else). When I was in Germany 3 years ago, they were paying the equivalent of $5.50 per gallon (or more). In perspective, gas is cheaper now than it was in 1980, considering the economy now and then. When you grit your teeth at the pump next time, think about this, people willingly pay $1.00 or more for 16 oz. of water!! And don't even complain about it!!

Just be glad you can even get gas! It won't be that way forever....

alternative energy! Hahahahaha! But keep up the dream. Hmmmmm.... and you can identify what Democratic Administration that has seriously pushed for alternative energy in the past 50 years?

3) oil companies. And the world runs on oil,..literally and figuratively. Uh, that's why Mr. Bush got us into Iraq. Nothing new there. You did fail to mention that the wealthy elite, whether they be conservatives or liberals, run the world, and whether they be conservative or liberal, they are the ones who own those banks and insurance companies, etc.

Like you have real proof of the Iraq thing? About a zillion liberals would sure like to see it so they can take action.... but nobody has actually proven it. They can believe what they want, but they just have not provided any "proof". So what good is the rhetoric?

Think yourselves lucky you don't live in England. Current prices for regular unleaded are around $6.66 USD, direct litre to US gallon conversion.

Taxed? you don't know the half of it :(
