Orig. 67 AM Radio wiring?

I want to put the original AM radio back in my car. I see no need for an expensive stereo, so why fight the loud exhaust and tempt thieves with big amps, subs, changers etc. etc. blah blah blah. De gustibus non est devendenum...

So where does it ground? On the speaker? I want to be sure it works before I spend time and $ searching for original knobs... I ordered a speaker from a Mustang place but it hasn't come yet... hmm... can I hook it up to a stereo 6x9 to see if it works?

Thanks

ground should be just about any metal of the vehicle; like the frame under the dash. I have install instructions for intermittent wipers for my 65 and a ground is required. The instructions, including photos, show the ground wire going to the under dash framing.

I seem to recall the am radio being low power and a halfway decent speaker should work. It's not going to blow the radio. If anything it is the speak that would go, and you can pick up those fairly cheap.

I was actually asking where it grounded, which lead... I know, dirt simple, but I only see four wires. Two apparently go to the speaker, and two are + leads (light and radio power). It would seem one of the wires going to the speaker is a ground for the radio as well as for the speaker. I looked on Ebay, and the radios shown appear to have the same wiring...

If you are bench testing it, hook the ground from your power supply to the frame of the radio.

Glad you got yours going. I still have the original radio for my '68. I'll probably re-install it, but I doubt I'll hook it up. Some things sound better than tunes. Rumpity-rumpity-rump...

Yeah, I was sort of surprised it actually worked. How many watts, I don't know, but not too shabby for what it is. There's something to be said for simplicity, having had a few expensive, bumpin' systems in my time. Also I now have tinitus from years of various types of abuse so that's out of the question.. ; )

Rumpity rumpity... yes, music enough. I haven't cared about the radio in years, just a loose end really...

Thanks
