X-pipe with cats

Can someone suggest to me an H or X pipe that fits properly and is equipped with high-flow catalytic converters?

My goal is to quiet the car down a bit. Currently I'm running Mac shortie headers, a cheap 2.5 " off-road H pipe, Dynomax flow tubes, Steeda Ultra-Flow mufflers, and Dynomax SS tailpipes. The H-pipe was a nightmare to get to fit. If there is someone who installed an H/X pipe without such issues, please, let me know what brand.

This is on an 82 chassis, converted for dual exhaust. 93 five liter engine, AOD.

I have Mac shorties and a Bassani X pipe with cats and I slipped both in by myself. Slid right into place. You WILL need a very long ratchet extention and a U-joint adapter to operate the nuts to bolt up the X pipe to the headers.

Jim,

I'll second the Bassani X-pipe. They fit PERFECTLY. My X-pipe slipped on so good, I was able to do it unassisted.

The other benefit with the catted Xs and Hs is no longer having to smell the nasty fumes. I hate being near those guys running off-road pipes on the street.

The Bassani X-pipe w/cats fit fine if you don't have a scatter shield. A little clearance grinding on the passenger side (for me) works fine though.

If you really want to get performance out of your car, you need to take out the converters, but save them when your smog comes up. its a waste of money to be doing all this bull shit when you have so much restriction with cats. if your going for sound you might want to give voodoo performance muffler a try, thier f---ing bad ass mufflers from the underground.

Good high flow cats only cost a couple horsepower. On a healthy engine (say

400hp) they would cost you 0.75%! Certainly not worth the trouble of changing them for a smog test. And most certainly not worth polluting the air for 0.75% difference.

I don't believe that for a second.

My Bassani X-Pipe w/cats let my old S/C'd 302 combination put down almost 390 RWHP. They're about five years old and still pass emission's testing. My son's ex '94 Cobra, 427 stroker with S/C exceded 190 MPH with 3" cats. (I was just happy he was standing in front of me, otherwise truely pissed!)

If you drive on the street, run cats...it's that simple.

Well, I'm sure that's a fine muffler for the Morlocks.

In other news, I did go with the Bassani X-pipe with cats. It slid right in without issue. I had a RH HEGOS clearance issue, but no more!

The sound level is reduced significantly. It no more raspy ugliness, just smooth and thick.... kind of like a milkshake.

I removed everything from my 93 for an H-pipe and some Dynomax Super Turbos and it sounds and goes great... up here in Alberta, the last true conservative republic in ALL of North America, there is no emissions testings (which is ironic in a way b/c Alberta has more heavy oil than Saudi does light crude), but it's a fact. Black gold paves the streets here. And my Stang rides on it. It's too bad you can't get rid of your cats down there in socialist America. Sorry boys. :)

Not at all. Cats arent a problem at all.. and removing them certainly is NOT a way to get even a barely noticeable boost in performance. Real power, power you can notice and feel, comes elsewhere.

I think the guys that take out the cat convertors need to have their exhaust system exit out in front of their car. That way THEY can smell all those nasty, stinky-ass exhaust fumes.

Keep it clean, keep it legal, buy high-flow cats.
