OT: Help re: 1976 Pontiac Firebird Re-Build

Can anyone point me in a good direction for looking for upgrade / mod parts for the above mentioned car?

Specifically at the moment, the owner is trying to figure out how to modify the car to allow for a cold air intake set up.

I am unable to find a standard cold air kit for that year, so I am thinking that it shouldn't be too hard to do some modifications that will allow us to install one without it being an actual "kit".. in other words, just buy the parts and make the modifications ourselves to the car.

The engine is a 6.6L 400 ci with a 2 barrel carb currently sitting underneath a standard round housing with drop in paper filter.

She would like to eventually trade out the 2 barrel for a 4 barrel.

The hood has the 2 front opening scoops (non ram air) but the owner would like to eventually change it out for a shaker hood / scoop set up.

The question I have is.. what can / could be done at the moment to allow for a cold air set up on the car.. preferably going through the wheel well but that with minor modifications can eventually be altered to allow for a cold air intake that comes through the hood.

First.. is that possible? Second.. can someone point me in the right direction on this stuff? I don't know **** about trying to do any of these types of mods on a car.

If you want to see what the car looks like now, including a picture of the existing hood. Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of the engine, although I will ask the owner to send me one tonight so I can upload it to the site.

TIA

Um, have you tried alt.autos.camaro.firebird, F-body.org, pro-touring.com? Plenty of places that sell parts, the best catalog you'll likely find is the one from Classic Industries. This years Camaro book is an 1" thick, so I expect my Firebird catalog to be at least 3/4".

The easiest thing would be to find a donor car that had the ram air induction. My sister had one - in fact, I think it is still quietly rusting away in her boyfriend's back yard in Virginia. Don't know anything about how hard it might be to find one, though.
