I have a 2000 Mustang GT coupe with automatic transmissiom.
My gear shifter is becoming really tight, especially when switching in and out of "P". I was thinking it just may need some lube but, but today, after I had my oil changed, but my car in Drive and the engine just died. Very strange.
Any idea on what the problem could be?

I could be wrong but it sounds like two different problems. The first problem sounds like the shifter cable is becoming rusted/corroded and you'll need to replace or have it replaced. I had the same problem with my fox body mustang and i let it go until one day i couldnt even get it into drive. The second problem sounds like the TB and/or idle motor need to be cleaned out.
