V-10 Stang?

At one point I had seen a blurb on the web somewhere claiming that the future Mustang or Cobra may have a V-10. What's the word on that? Is this just a pipe dream, or a possibility? I know that the current Mustang Cobra is super fast... the blower is able to make serious HP from a small cube motor. But I personally prefer more cubic inches and no blower. I'd LOVE a V-10 with about 330 - 350 cubes or so in a new Stang. Such an engine would make that Stang go plenty fast without a blower... then I suppose if you put a blower on, it would REALLY go fast! So... do you think I have something to look forward to? If not, please burst my bubble now so I don't get my hopes up.

There is a prototype running around in a current body. They have been calling it a BOSS 351. It has been in the various Mustang magazines lately. If its for a Cobra I guess its ok, but I'm not thrilled with a V10 myself for one very simple reason......the sound. Sure the power is great, but a v10 just dosen't have a good powerful sound to it IMO. I think a Viper sounds like an over grown Honda with a fart can. Why not just make a larger cid v8.

According to a TLC Rides show a few weeks back, that prototype was testing the engine for the new Shelby Cobra Ford showed at the Autoshow. It produced 500HP if I am not mistaken. Now that would be one sweet ride.

And with regards to the sound, the Shelby Cobra sounds pretty good to my ears. But then again, the design team tinkered until they got a nice sound.

Sounds fine to me. I just like cubic inches. I wonder what the real world performance difference is between say a 330 cube V-8 and a 330 cube V-10? Assuming they were both set up in a similar fashion, I wonder how they would compare in terms of low-end torque as well as upper-end HP capabilities. If the V-10 for instance was able to make a lot more low-end torque while still making the same upper-end HP, that would be a very worthwhile advantage. I know the Viper makes loads of torque. I never drove a V-10 or V-12 personally.

yeah, would be nice but.. it might also make the car too heavy and mess up the weight distribution too much. What's wrong with superchargers ? Just look at the current cobra; it's basically an engine that's has tons more potential than what the factory delivers it with. small mods and you are at 500 hp ! try that on a n/a engine with 4.6 liters of displacement. Just bought a '03 Cobra vert from a guy who got jammed up in a divorce. Got it with 2,800 miles on it for the balance on his loan, and he had already chipped it! I've had a modified E-Type and other Mustangs before this, but this thing is a freakin ROCKET! Chipped 4.6L 32V DOHC with supercharger is all you need...

amazing huh. I like my 03 Cobra also. Quite the step up from my GT Remove NO-SPAM from email address when replying
