Fog and/or driving lights for 280Z

I found the only use of fog lights is to help illuminate the sides of the road better. You want a wide spread pattern. They are also good at annoying other drivers. Keeping the light low also helps view the road better. Generally you want to minimize the blue spectrum since it just produces glare. Halogen lamps are inherantly poor without the lens filter. Old fashioned lamps produced a better illuminattion for fog use. A fog lamp always has a metal shield in front of the bulb, if it doesn't, its not a fog lamp. An offroad lamp might not have the shield, but its really needed to prevent upward glare. Driving lamps do not have the shield. Thats about all I know about fog lamps. Can't tell you about brand names.

I orginally mounted my fogs low inside behind the bumper. They had a reddish lens. Most of the cheap old units had unrelliable bulb sockets and frequently had to be kicked on. I don't use them anymore, but still have a pair in there just for looks.
