1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder

Hello,

My throttle cable is sticking on my 1999.5 Nissan Pathfinder. When I first initiate the gas peddle I can feel it stick. Unsticking it causes me to have a quick burst of acceleration. It doesn't stick enough to make the drive dangerous, but it will make for a annoying ride. I am wondering if I need to have this changed or I can just lubricate the cable or linkage.

If anyone can advise I would appreciate it.

Thanks, D

Your throttle plate is probably sticking to the throttle body when closed -- you can spray a little throttle body cleaner onto a rag and clean the edge of the plate and where it seats on the throttle body, once you get the crud out of there it shouldn't stick any more. Should also smooth out your engine a bit when you are using minimal throttle.

It wouldn't hurt to take a look at the throttle cable and linkage too, just in case something is binding as well.

Hope that helps!
