94 Sentra with auto trans. Driving down the highway and it suddenly shifts back to 1st gear. Poked around and found a loose battery connection, and hoped that was the problem. But of course that didn't solve anything. Now I'm being told the trans needs rebuilding and I'm looking at about half the value of the car to make this thing go faster than 20mph.
It seems odd to me that this was so sudden, and that if it was so catastrophic a failure, why does the car move at all ? Up to this point the car had no problems, and I don't get how it can shift into reverse, and manually into first gear, but nothing else.
Any ideas ?
