Nissan Sentra

Hello guys,

My tires recently got ruptured while I was driving on the freeway. The tire shop told me that it was because of misalignment. Therefore I had to do an alignment and replace all 4 of my tires as they were worn out. I was also told that my caster was off by 0.1 degrees. Is this a concern? Do I need to get the caster in alignment?

Thanks

a tenth of a degree is nothing to be concerned about.

Also be advised that caster is a non tire wearable angle when it comes to wheel alignment unless it is extremely excessive.

Also be advised the caster is a non adjustable angle on the Sentra.

I'd get your car as far away from that shop ASAP and take it to someone that does not try to feed you a bunch of BS

Did the tires look worn out to you? Belts showing? Or did you run something over? How many tires "got ruptured" ?

THanks for the clarification. This shop did not recommend I should get it fixed at their tire shop. However, because the caster was off, they recommended that I should go to a frame shop and get the caster fixed. Is the caster being off considered risky? The dealership themselves said that it would be ok if the caster is off. What can cause the Caster to be off?

Thanks,

Tom

Caster gets off usually because of something being worn or bent, usually from hitting the curbing a few too many times. I've never heard of it causing a tire to rupture. Now, on the other hand, hitting something (curb, pothole, etc.) hard enough to blow a tire could also cause enough damage to the suspension that would throw the (non-adjustable) caster out of spec.

A frame shop is pretty much the only place that can fix it. They will either bend it back into spec or replace whatever is damaged in the suspension.
