Using Tufoil and Tornado: 43mpg on the road

My 1.6 litre '99 Sentra was a slug, but now it's fun.



I've been running Tufoil in the engine for quite a while. I added a Tornado fuel saver to the air line. The Tornado gave me more power with the a/c on than I had before with it off. I think it makes the fuel-air mixture atomize better.



On a recent 1900 mile trip with some city driving I got 43 mpg. I only go 50-55, though.



Just passing on the info. I am not associated with the Tufoil or Tornado companies.



There is one drawback -- it comes on too strong when I first touch the gas pedal. In 3rd trying to go 25 mph, I have to actually get out of the gas to keep it from going over.



Tufoil does make the engine last longer too. Possibly 40%.

Just as a point of comparison my stock 1999 1.6 liter Sentra (same car as yours) using full synthetic oil consistently gets 46-48 mpg in mostly highway driving. Synthetic oil does indeed reduce friction and so increases gas mileage to some extent. From what I've heard and read, scientifically controlled tests on the Tornado don't show any benefit. I wouldn't expect that it would, especially on a fuel injected engine. If you like it, though, good luck with it. Al

What brand? Sounds great.

The power increase on the Sentra and on a Dodge van is undeniable. Logically, you'd then give it less gas to do the same thing. I don't know if it gets fuel savings into the two digits, though.

I use Pennzoil 5W30 Full Synthetic, change it every 3500 miles, drive very conservatively and always keep the brakes well lubricated. Insuring the brakes are free from drag is a major factor if fuel economy. Good luck. Al

For a modern fully synthetic oil, you are changing your oil far too often. Get an oil analysis done or learn how to do it your self.
