Cleaning Fuel Injectors - 2003 Altima 2.5 SL

Recently at 40K (24,000 miles) my 2003 Altima 2.5 SL started to hesitate when accelerating from a stop; green light, stop sign, etc. It would see to die slightly when applying the gas and then catch on and move forward. I described this when I took it to the dealer for an oil change and asked them to check the timing settings after I described the hesitation I was experiencing. I was told a few minutes later that the settings were on but the only thing they could think of is that the car needs a fuel injector cleaning....at $165.00. I went for the injector job. The car runs perfectly after the service and now at 54K is still running fine. I'm suspicious. Did they adjust the settings and then sell me an unnecessary fuel injector service? I hope not. Having to get the injectors cleaned at only 40K seems a little too early to me. Any thoughts out there on this?
