question about keyless entry system

hey folks: i have a 1998 nissan altima with a three button keyless entry system (lock, unlock, and panic). in the past, the only way to lock the car door was by pressing the lock button. about a year ago, i left the car for servicing and the keyless entry system changed. now, unless the ignition is on, the car automatically locks roughly 5 seconds after it has been unlocked. this poses a big problem because if i leave my keys in the ignition with the car off, the car will automatically lock!

how do i reverse this to the way it originally was? i'm really afraid that if if i take my car to the carwash or to inspection and leave the keys in the ignition, they will get locked in.

thanks for your help....

Dealer needs to adjust your settings back to the way they were. SHOULD be at no charge since they changed it but you never know.

He has a non factory alarm system

Nissan alarm systems do not have a passive locking feature

Actually i had my car serviced privately, and not at a dealer. Isn't there a way to hold down a few buttons on the fob to turn off the passive door lock system?

no , holding down both buttons on the remote either enables or disables the audible feature when locking or unlocking the doors
