2000 Nissan maxima - Overcharge ball Joint?

My 2000 Maxima's steering wheel shakes when I drive at speeds over



60MPH. A local mechanic says it is the ball joint , and it will cost $241 to repair. Is this overpriced?

If I were in your position, I'd check these first (unless he can definitely show you that the joints are bad:

- dynamic wheel balancing

- tire roundness check

- wheel alignment

- struts

Maxima balljoints are usually good for 200K and should be $100-$150 with labor to change.
