Brakes and cold weather!

Hi,



I have noticed something odd with my 1996 Max (no ABS). When the weather outside turns very cold, i.e -20 deg Celcius the brakes initially can't be depressed. Jabbing the brake pedal several times cures this anomaly and for rest fo the day the brakes work fine.



I had the brake fluid replaced last year by the dealer during rear brake service.



Anyone else have this issue and have had it repaired. I'm not what the problem is. I took it to the dealer and of course they can't find a problem. Unfortunately I can't leave the car with the dealer for any length of time.

I'd be inclined to look at the master cylinder and or the brake booster. Otherwise make sure nothing is restricting the brake pedal from moving freely.

Thanks, there is nothing that would restrict the brake pedal. I have also posted this inquiry to the Maxima.org forum, and about 7 individuals responded with the same problem on the 4th generation Maxes. One of them has a ritual, where on cold days he pumps the brakes before leaving the driveway. I have started doing this also, it helps. First 2-3 pumps are OK, then the 4th and 5th are quite difficult to depress, then it works fine again. Weird.
