Check Eng. light After Alt. Replacement?

Dec 21, 2003 4 Replies

I was stranded at the mall today with my 94 Maxima. I jump started the battery which btw had lots of white corrosion on both terminals. The car started but after afew minutes began to run very rough.Well long story short I was near Sears so I had them check it out. They said I needed a new alternator. I picked the car up after regular hours and found that the check engine light was on. I will spare you the rest of my Sears expierience but would appreciate any input you guys might have about this. Thanks.

I think you just need the computer reset Sears should have been able to do this. But then again Sears may not be a real good place for quality repair.dk

DK, Thanks for your help. I will do this today. If I may ask you one more question would you possibly know of a similar site that could help me to re-set my SRS warning light in my 2001 Maxima? After a minor accident the unit was replaced, which is under the center arm rest/console. Well believe it or not that started flashing this morning. As if I need more problems at his point! Thanks again and have a blessed holiday.

Right now I don't I will try searching for one. dk

While it was possible to reset it in older models using a combination of things (such as pressing the door light switch a certain number of times within a specific time period), the 2001 can only be reset by the dealer using a Consult II.
