Coolant/Radiator leak ...

I have a '92 Nissan Maxima SE. I noticed the other day that the coolant level was very low and while changing the oil, noticed coolant dripping around the area just behind where the oil filter. It was not dripping anywhere else. Anybody want to guess where the leak might be coming from? Any hoses, clamps that you guys could point out?

I am thinking of dropping off the car at an auto shop to have them run the radiator leak test. What would be a reasonable price for such a test? Any help/ideas would be deeply appreciated.

It's probably your water pump. Check the pump body to see if the coolant is coming out of the weap hole in the pump. If it is, then you're going to need a new one. It's a pain to get out too. You need an impact wrench to remove the harmonic balancer although there is a nice cutaway in the framing to get the wrench in if you remove the right front wheel.

You also can check the hose connections to see if that's it, but from the position, I'm betting that it's the pump itself.

Check out how it flows. Typically hose connection and/or broken seal -if not the pump. Also check Nissan TSB's for a leakin plug...

Dont drive until fixed... risk is air bubbles and then overheat --->engine head warp

Thank you. That was the problem. Since I am mechanically challenged, got it repaired at a local auto mechanic shop. Brand new pump cost was $113 + taxes while the labor to replace it was $240. It set me back $260 + change. Thanks again.
