higher rpm hesitation

Aug 26, 2005 1 Replies

I have a 2000 model and has you accelerate the engine hesitates at around 4500 rpm and then continues smoothly to redline. I just had the clutch hydraulics repaired as the slave cylinder craped out. A friendly mechanic suggested (before the clutch repair) the clutch could of been slipping. Now with the clutch repaired, I am looking for your feedback on what it could be.

Thanks for your help.

The 2000 (and later) Maximas have a 2 stage variable intake manifold. I've seen stories on maxima.org of them failing to switchover. Perhaps yours is acting up. Have the dealer check it.

Interestingly, the 2000-2001 intake manifolds were plastic, yet the

95-99s were metal. Then, in 2002, Nissan went back to metal intake manifolds. Hmmmmmmmmm.......
