hey, I live in Ri and drive a 2001 max Se. after getting out of the snow (damn blizzard) driving on the highway I noticed my car shaking after I hit about 55 mph. it's enver done this before, and has done this the past 2 days, is this just because of snow builtup in the fenders and stuff? or coudl ti eb something else?

Is there ice stuck to any part of the wheels? (look in the hard to see places too)

Dave

Also, take your car to one of those power-wash places and flush out the back of the wheel well (spend at least a minute or so on each one to make sure you've melted everything). Ice builds up back there (with any car, really) and causes what you describe. I had this problem with my 03 Max once or twice last winter.

One thing that's a good habit in winter is every night, take a small shovel and clear out the muck that builds up on the back of all 4 wheel wells, right behind the tire. Preferably before it freezes.

Check your CV joint boots for cracks as well

There is ice on your rim causing it to go out of balance. It's pretty common in the winter.

I agree, its common. Almost an everyday thing in the last week or two here in Mass.

Also spinning tires in deep icy snow can knock off a balance weight...
