Radio gone bad

Jun 25, 2005 7 Replies

Have an 03 Max with 69k miles with the standard (not bose) radio/tape/CD player.

Yesterday the radio started going on the blink. The problem is intermittent. The volume control does not work sometimes and the display gets locked up when it shows the volume setting. Has anyone run into this problem? Are these usually fixed or replaced? Does anyone know the potential cost?

TIA

My advice is to visit your local BestBuy and get a price on replacing the radio.

Yeah, that's one thought, but I like the cosmetics and the controls on the wheel....

From this site, I would guess $150+ for a repair:

I'd look on ebay for an OEM radio (if you want to use the steering wheel controls) or go aftermarket.

time for a new one.

or check your dealer, we have a list of local repair shops that we use for customers with the same problems

ebay or local radio shop... (you know the one while all the neon lit cars thumping around) the may have a customer pulled radio that someone doesn't need.

There are plenty of these '03 radio at the junk yard right now. $125
