Service Engine Soon

This is not a complaint--

Purchased brand new 2002 Maxima SE fully loaded.

** 3,500 miles engine light came on. Nissan repaired it. ** 8,000 / 10,000 / 15,000 /20,000 same thing and nissan repaired it. Everytime it was a different sensor causing the issue. 23,000 miles the light came on the engine would not start.

Nissan repaired it.

I have filed lemon law expecting nissan to take respsonibilites. No such luck. They feel there is no issue and i do not fit the bill. My lawyer is fighting the case. At this point I just want to close the case and buy another car.

I feel as though I bought a lemon and Nissan does not want to take any respsonibilites of this issue. I would be happy to buy from Nissan if they would take the car back.

Infiniti Lexus BMW Mercedes they all take there cars back without questions....

oh yeah the light is on and now I smell gas....

Any ideas on how you would handle it?

When you say "Everytime it was a different sensor" do you mean O2 sensors? Post what the problem was each time. From what little info you've provided it sounds like they're correcting the symptoms and not the underlying problem.

I've owned 2 Nissans (still own 1), and had to deal with 2 more Nissans. Fool me > > This is not a complaint--

I wish that was the case. I took a local dealership in Palo Alto California for every service. Nissan Corp came out one of the repairs and I thought that was it I would never see the light again. Not the case. Right now I got a shitty lawyer who is trying to settle with Nissan and Nissan is just low balling as if I want money. Fuck....just take the car back, you sold a lemon now face the facts. After this case closes I will never buy another nissan again not because of the car more because how they handle it.

You know what sucks is that this was my dream car when I was a kid. Hell a Nissan Maxima 2002 with 255 horse power what a car...Bought in CASH!!! Fuck that this car has nothing but a headache, and you know what... its not the fucken cars fault. I got a lemon. Do you think the Nissan would step up to the plate and say please send car back and we will take care of the rest. NO they would rather drag this fucken case out have me drive around with this service engine light and haggle my lawyer. After this case is settled I am going to place an article in the local paper on how bad nissan handle this. Also reporting the them to better business bureau. and my next car will be toyota! Whatever it takes to make there local stores in the third largest state in the conuntry to loose revenue I will do it. Sorry for the long email..

My mother had a Subaru with a Check Engine light on. The local dealer couldn't fix it at all, didn't have a clue.

A local mechanic took a look and found that the gas cap when screwed in tightly was leaking, thus the fuel system was not properly pressurized. Replaced the cracked gas cap and now the silly light is off.

Since it's different sensors, I can't see how that is a lemon. Ever consider how many parts hat car has? If 10 broke in 25,000 that's like .0001% of the parts..

You think anyone else would say "Ok here's a new car!"? Sorry you are having problems but I'm betting the dealer you are using has morons working there more so than the car being a lemon.

Also consider you did get 25,000 miles of use out of the car already. I can't see why they should eat all of that either. The solution might be to try another dealer for repairs? They aren't all created equal as there are just humans working at them, some mechanics -are- smarter than others. We repair LOTS of cars that the dealers can't figure out. EVen if you have to pay someone a few hundred to fix the car, it's easier (and cheaper) than getting lawyers involved. They will end up with most of the money from my experiences with them.

Sounds like a lemon or a design defect to me.

I have two cars with over 150,000. Neither one has had even one sensor replaced. NO car today should have a problem every 5K miles. Even my old Triumph with 140,000 went for 8 years with only replacing a vacuume advance and one valve spring.

Did your mechanic look at TSB 2002? This TSB menti> Larry4ny wrote:

John, At this point I just wanted to move on.

I closed the case, becuse it was forbidden me to travel or get regular maintance does.

I am looking at the 02 Acura TL. sad but Nissan (again not the cars fault)lost a loyal customer who really enjoyed his car. I actaully like the Pathfinders allot too. My other choice will be 4runner,or MDX.(I own a 95 Pathfinder XE) FYI: I owned a datsun 310/200sx/280ZX I really liked Nissan and the Maxima what a car. But I have had friends ask me about recommending Nissan and I tell them the cars is great reliable etc (tell them my experience) but the dealerships and the Nissan corp care less about what you experence with issues. I don't want to own a car where the corporation only cares about inventory.
