Tire suggestions please

Need to replace the tires on my '02 Max GXE and would like suggestions from this group. I live upstate just north of NYC where we get snow on the roads but not usually major and a lot of rain. We do lots of stop and go driving as well as some highway. Thanks for your help. Please respond to the group.

I bought some Falken ZX2, and was less than impressed. Not bad, just the tread life was much less than expected.

After wearing out the factory Toyo's at 17K, I installed a set of Yokohama's. They cupped out, for whatever reason, at 22K. I then installed Michelin's XGT-4's and they lasted 55K. The second set now have 45K on them and will easily go 55K too. Too bad they don't make them any more. They were well worth that I paid for them $105@.

I have been happy with my Yokohama AVIDs. I have a set on each of 3 cars. Maybe not great in rain, and I run snows in winter... Consult tirerack.com. This is an invaluable source for tire reviews, etc.

Thank you all for your advice. It came down to Dunlop or Michelin. My previous tires were Dunlop and I was happy with them, so that's what I wound up with.

Stay away from the Micheling MXV4 Plus... worst tire in the rain ever.

On my '03 Max which is the same car as yours, I was very happy with the Bridgestone Turanza LS-Vs. They are a MUCH better tire than the Potenzas (aka "Death Donuts") that came with the car.

Which model?

Michelin makes hardass cheapo tires, touring radials, performance tires, race tires, etc. It tells me nothing to hear "Dunlop" or "Michelin". You should require the same.

Dave,

Thanks for your concern.

At this point, they are bought, mounted, balanced and driven.

I assure you that I did the research and chose the tires that met my requirements but I do appreciate everyone's concern.

Again, thanks to all who gave me their advice.

So, what Dunlop model did you buy?

Yeah, that was the real point of my post.

FWIW, my performance car has Bridgestone RE-01Rs and Kumho v710s, my daily driver has Dunlop Winter Sport M3s and Kumho SPTs.

I just never could find the comparable Michelins for a decent enough price to try them.
