Window switch problem 90 GXE

Nov 23, 2004 3 Replies

It seems we've been having alot of problems w/ 3rd gen master window switches. Now it's my turn: The passenger windows will not go up when using the driver's (master) switch. They will go down but not up. They work fine if using the individual switch on that door. This just came about this week. We've been having alot of rain and very damp weather here in Dallas for the last week or so. Is this a moisture-related problem?

Thanks.

I had a similar problem, but in the opposite direction. I could always get the driver's window to go up, but it didn't always want to go down.

It did seem to be affected more when the weather was wet. I bought a replacement from a junkyard for $25 or so, and it works just fine now. I didn't feel like paying the $125 the dealer wanted.

Thanks, Bill. I haven't opened up the switch and jiggled the wiring yet, so I'm not gonna run out and buy a new switch just yet. The one's advertised in Ebay don't sound very reliable as they can't guarantee they work or the switches look pretty worn in the pictures. Our weather is now drier, but the switches still don't work. I'll just keep trying to locate the problem, then I'll buy a used one from somewhere, salvage yard or Ebay.
