At 40+ mph with drivers window Open, car gets petrol fumes. Local garage can detect no leaks or other cause. No underbonnet smells,either. Anybody help ?? thanks DB

so at 40+ with window closed no smell? no smell ever under 40mph?

Could be something simple such as an over rich mixture (are you running carbs?) - I sometimes got a waft of fumes from the carb when running the mixture too rich.
