Does the radio aerial of a mk 2 405 estate unscrew from the mount fitted to the front of the roof?
May be obvious but past experience has made me realise that its better to ask first ;-)
Need to put the car through a car wash - get rid of any salt on the underbody.

I often use a car wash with my Mk2 405 - and I just flatten the aerial against the roof, never have taken it off! The only aerial I detach is the mobile phone.
Needless to say, I accept no responsibility....

Yes it does unscrew. The thread is only 5 or 6 mm diameter and quite fragile. Be gentle. once you have got it off, a little grease or even a drop of oil off the end of the dipstick will make it easier next time.

Good advice - exactly what I did with my second aerial once I'd snapped the first off!
