big wheels little drop?

I have just aquired a 98 model five door 306 Dturbo and was wondering what are the largest wheel 'n' tyre combo that i can fit under the standard arches and also is there room for a slight drop in ride height?

I've got 17's on my 2001 306 and they are fine. Haven't dropped it tho.
