Internal Light

I have a Peugeot 405 auto. There is no light to illuminate the gear shift (bulb broke?). I have an Haynes manual but this is of no help to replace this bulb.Any advise would be gratefully accepted

Clive.

What the heck do you need one for? In my 25 years of motoring I've never had an illuminated gear shift and wouldn't want or need one now. It's not going to increase the value of the car.

It's an automatic, so I guess it's to see which gear is engaged.

I did miss that the first time, but I re-read the OP a day ago and my comments still stand. I drove an Allegro auto (yes, yes I know) for a while, before it literally fell apart, and had no problem selecting gears. It had the Quartic steering wheel too. It was the worst car I have ever owned, a complete bag of sh1te.
