what is the "hold" light?

hi,

i replace the oil pressure "idiot" gauge in my 95 with a real oil pressure gauge and thought i would replace all the lights in the instrument cluster while i was there, (why not at 115k miles), and one of the lights would illuminate the word "hold" in blue if it were ever to light up.

do you know what this is for or what it means?

thanks, peter

Yes, the light is to tell you your automatic transmission is in "Hold" and can't shift into higher gears.

If you have a manual transmission it's where you keep a spare bulb! ;-)

what is an automatic transmission?

thanks,

A transmission for shiftless people, of course.

or... a transmission for people who are not full of shift. ;)
