Had a similar problem with the 405 my wife had some years ago. Went to Halfords in Staines and had a choice of high performance bulbs or those weird blue ones. Got the high performance ones and the difference was quite impressive.

Are they adjusted correctly. On my old 306 they were way too low to start with.

If you actually want extra light on the road, then you need to move to HID lighting.

Does your 405 have the driving lights in the headlight? Mine did, and main beam was excellent. Might be able to find a pair in a scrappy. Otherwise I think your best bet is the Philips, or similar 50% brighter bulbs, you will find them in Halfords etc. Don't even think of those blue ones, they are useless. HID is better, but will double the value of the car too, they cost an arm and a leg.

Just found the old box in the garage. They are marked "Brilliant High Performance" and "Xenon Gas Technology".
