1988 Grand Prix 2.8L... the saga continues

Ok... .I'm nearly at my wits' end with this thing...

History:

-Car sat for the better part of a year, being started and moved around occasionally.

-2 Weeks ago, serious effort began on putting this beast on the road

-Structurally sound, it needed brake work (rear discs/pads + one line), a motor mount, and fuel leak fixed.

-In troubleshooting the car, it had been started and stopped many times over the least month, the last time about 2 weeks ago (drove it up and down our rural road, getting up to about 50-60mph.

-After that, the brakes were done.

Current state: Car starts, but stalls out 5-10 seconds after starting. Pumping the gas at start, or not, makes no difference. It was running/idling fine, idiling in park was sitting at 1000rpm and sounded solid. There's about 187000 miles on this car.

In desperation, I had the car towed to a mechanic... He said that he could explore, but it would cost me... that the problem was either plugged injectors or the computer.

I know that there are a few regulars here who know this car very well... just looking for some pointers. Her'es what I'm considering:

1) Buying a computer at a wrecking yard and seeing what I can do. 2) Buying a second, running Grand Prix 2.8 and using the first one as a parts car 3) Scrapping it and buying something else.

Any ideas? The car was given to me, and I've since put about $200 worth of parts into it.

Thanks.

Mark.

Since it's an 88 I assume it's FI. Pop the schrader valve from the fuel rail and do two things. Make sure you get pressure with the key on. Make sure that gas will even burn. You may think I'm kidding but gas can turn into some nasty shit if it sits without a fuel stabilizer in it. If the gas is crap empty the tank and refill it with fresh fuel. Don't even bother trying to save it unless it's for a lawnmower and even then it will probably not be worth the effort.
