2004 buick lasabre tps removal

Apr 03, 2009 7 Replies

hi,

my 04 lasabre died yesterday and i want to check to see if the throttle position sensor is mechanically ok so i can try to get the car to a shop to read the flashing service engine lite codes. however, it has "security" screws holding it in place. how can i remove the tps and/or where can i get the tool?

HI. alt.autos.gm might be a better group. Few people post or read .pontiac any more. The screws... Aren't they ordinary torx 10 ? It would be better to check the tps ON the car.

never had issue, (other than dash needles which was fixed 2 months ago), before this.

i'll look

no, they are security type screws with a post in the center

Those things! I got a set of about 60 tips 1/4" diameter hex for my air ratchet from Home Depot a few years ago. I think it was $20. The ones I have are hex but have a hole in the center for the post.

all behind the dash work but i see your point. thanks
