Have put 76 Firebird discs on my 64 GTO. This requires use of later model (taller) spindles. Anybody know how front end should be aligned w/ this setup? i.e., tell the alignment shop to align to 76 firebird specs? or 64 GTO specs? etc.
Thanks,

Brian, this is a great upgrade, but normally you have to switch to aftermarket tubular upper control arms (Fat Man Products, Barrett Chassis Components, etc.). The reason is that when you install the taller spindles, it raises the angle of the upper control arm, which pulls the top of the spindle in. To get back to the correct camber angle, shims have to be removed to allow the shaft to get closer to the frame, where it attaches. Normally, even with all of the shims out, the control arm is still to short to achieve proper camber. The Fat Man parts are probably the most popular, but the Barrett parts appear to be similar quality, and the are the most economical. Check their web sites and ask around. Good luck!
