Dropped spindles Ghia woes

Hey guys,

I put some dropped spindles on my '70 Ghia and love the look but... Unfortunately even though I've put lower profile tires (195/50-15) it still rubs under hard cornering (with body roll). Is there anything I can do short of pulling the front beam and putting adjusters (ugh) or sourcing out and installing 145's or 135's? If I can't find a reasonable solution I'll put the original spindles on for now then install a new adjustable, narrowed front beam and the dropped spindles sometime in the future. That way I can dial it in until I get a compromise. A real shame as the car looks much meaner with the new stance. I'll try to get some pictures up a.s.a.p.

You can have the rims machined to increase the wheel offset. You have to machine the flange and the back of the rim spokes, to clear the disk brake caliper. Up to 1/4" clearance can be obtained this way, and you get a slightly better feel on the steering wheel.

Also adding a heavy duty sway bar in the front will decrease the body roll.

Thanks for the reply Bill, sorry for the delay in responding. I was away for awhile. I kind of expected the wheel to rub on the calliper but it clears fine. The ball joint rubs on the inside of the wheel and is gouging the wheel and shaving the ball joint. I think for now I'm going to put the OG spindles back on. I'll accumulate all the things I'll need (narrowed / adjustable beam, heavy-duty sway bar, and possibly some rims with a larger inside diameter or slightly less offset) then do it right at that time. That way I can "dial it in" raising it up enough to have clearance at all times but lowering it more than stock. At least I got a preview of what the car will look like :o)
