Pull a plug wire off and put a sparkplug in it. Then lay it on some engine metal, to see if you have spark, when someone cranks it. A fuel filter has about a 40% chance of fixing it.

Could also be a bad fuel pump or regulator. take tha cap off the schrader valve and depress the pin to see if there is pressure BEFORE cranking the engine. Should be pressure even before turning on the key. Make sure it is the FUEL schrader valve, not the A/C!!!!!!! The fuel pump should run for aprox 4 seconds when the key is turned on, before cranking. Listen at the gas cap to confirm. However, if the filter has not been shanged in the last year, it's a fair bet it needs changing.

Could have ice in the fuel lines too, depending where you are. Get a can of Heet or any isopropyl based fuel de-icer if that is a possibility in your case.NOT METHYL HYDRATE!!!!!
