Clutch won't disengage

Help,

Haven't driven my 1969 912 for quite a while. When I tried, the clutch won't disengage. When I try to put into any gear, it grinds.

Replaced clutch cable and cable housing. No effect.

Tightened cable to max, and can see lever moves, but no change. Troubleshoot guide mentioned perhaps no oil in trans, but I'm full.

Any thoughts before I drop engine and transmission?

Roy, I've heard that a really good pounding (heavy rubber mallet) on the area around the clutch assembly while you work the clutch will sometimes disconnect it. The plates become fused from sitting. Not an uncommon problem.

Do some Googling, I thought I'd seen something out there about this type of thing. Also check Rennlist, Pelican, and PCA.

I had this problem a couple of years ago with my 1967 911S.

IIRC, I took it out to the street, had a friend push it in high gear, with the ignition on, clutch pedal depressed. The pulses broke the fusing loose and restored everything.
