It just wont pull out of the tank it will come up about an inch .....dont want to force it ...is the float attached or ??

The in-tank fuel pump is part of the pick-up at the very bottom of the tank. Is that what you're working with?
The level sender goes in through the top and is accessed from inside the hatch area. The sender will get caught on the anti-slosh basket. Keep working it, it'll come. Might bring the top of the basket with it.
