In 1977 Porsche made the first limited edition of the 924, known as the
924 Matini edition (from sponsor Martini & Rossi), to celebrate their championship victories in 1969, 1970, 1971 and finally 1976.They were painted in Gran Prix White with a blue and red stripe on the sides. It was Porsches idea that associating the 924 with their success in racing, would give the 924 a better image.
