I have an odd problem with a Rover 214 (S). When I turn on the ignition my lights have suddenly started to flick onto the parking lights setting and I am unable to turn them off using the light switch. So my lights are permanently on when I drive (but switch off when I turn off the engine) Is this a feature of the car or a very odd fault...if it is a feature how do I turn it off ?? (I've owned the car for 5 years and this has never happened before)

You sure you havn't been swapped for a Volvo?
At first you would expect there to be some cross between the ignition switch and the headlight switch. (like a fulat in teh circuit or something breaking and shorting to pins or wires) Its made less likely by the fact that you can turne ur lights on and off regardless of ignition.
A good test if to turn ur parking lights on with the ignition off. If theres a direct lik between the 2 and it would actually power the ignition then you have a very stealable car (this is unlikely so dont panic)
One way the two are connecte is the warning buzzer (when you open a door with lights on) This is one way the lgihts are conenced to the ignition.
these are all things to try.
I have not heard of this before. Unless as already mentioned it has been converted to drive in sweeden
