It says something when a Rover's reject is snubbing the club with the largest stanchions in the league.

Manchester City have revealed striker Matt Jansen did not train with them on Thursday, despite boss Stuart Pearce inviting the ex-Blackburn player along. Jansen, 28, was thought to be keen to earn a permanent deal at City, but no reason has been given for his absence from their training at Platt Lane. Pearce had earlier said: "We have to be interested in any good player that comes along and he'll train with us." Bolton, Everton and Wigan are also thought to be interested in Jansen. Jansen was released by Blackburn on Wednesday after six years with the club. He made just five appearances for Rovers this season and found himself behind Paul Dickov, Shefki Kuqi and Craig Bellamy in the pecking order. In fact, he has started only 13 Premiership matches since his recovery from a 2002 motorcycle accident.
