Metro Performance parts

Does anyone know where else I can get performance parts for my metro? I usually get bits from moto-build but i was wondering if there are any more stockists.

Any help apriciated, Kris

What sort of 'performance parts' do you mean? If you want to increase the power output of the engine, then (assuming it's the 1.4 k-series engine) there isn't all that much you can do - the breathing of the engine is pretty good as stock, and AFAIK the block isn't suitable for boring out. The easiest way to improve the performance would be to do an engine swap for the 1.8k-series (possibly even the vvc lump).

Taking a pragmatic and somewhat dull stance, I would look at trading the metro in on a rover 200vi - you get the improved performance without the hit to your insurance premiums for having engine mods, plus much better handling and the refinements of a newer car and the lack of the gremlins which inevitably move in whenever you undertake serious modding work.

If, on the other hand, by 'performance parts' you meant spoilers, LED washers, window tints and other stick-on tat then there are all too many places around, including most auto-factors.

Im only bothered about modifying my car as it is (1.4 8 valve single point). I am going to buy 4 into 2 into 1 manifold, de-cat pipe, s/s exhaust, boost valve and induction kit from moto build but i was wondering if i could get a bigger bore throttle body as well as a high lift cam etc. from anywhere else as moto build dont stock things like that for 8 valve singlepoints.

I dont want to go to all of the hastle of getting rediculous ammounts of power from a 1.8 or 1.6 for that matter as i would put it in a ditch with it being my first car.

Cheers, Kris

Don't bother - you're throwing your money away. There's no point spending vast sums of cash, to give your engine less power than the 1.4 16v Multipoint has as standard ! If you want a faster car, then buy a faster car.

The only worthwhile performance upgrade to the Metro, as Andy has already said, is to drop in the 1.8 K-Series lump.

Eh ? Whether you put it into a ditch, depends on how you drive it - not how much power it has. If it's your first car, then I'd leave it alone. Wait a year or two till you've got some no-claims, then go and buy something decent.

I think this refers to a device which allows the pressure in the fuel rail to be increased. I can only assume these are intended to increase the rev limit in the case that fuel starvation is the limiting factor, at least for closed-loop engine management systems.

that would be an FSE or fuel pressure regulator - still no cigar with the boost valve :E
